Wagga City Council has taken a new approach to the delivery of its strategies to support the economic prosperity of Wagga Wagga. Taking up a new blueprint for economic growth for the city and the establishment by Council of a Commercial & Economic Development Directorate. In addition to a structured integration between Council businesses, property, tourism and economic development areas, the Directorate also manages and delivers the city's economic development strategies.

The creation of the Commercial & Economic Development Directorate recognised the importance of the provision of fully integrated economic development services to the Wagga Local Government area's growth and future direction. It recognised the huge potential that could be achieved by bringing Economic Development, Strategic Property Management, Tourism and Council's Strategic Commercial Businesses - the Airport and the Livestock Marketing Centre - into one operational directorate.
