Background to the 2031 Population Forecasts

In 2010, the Riverina Regional Cities Committee negotiated an agreement with .id (which stands for Informed Decisions) to deliver forecast.id® across the 28 local government areas that comprise the Murray and Riverina regions.

The forecast.id® product provides a comprehensive on-line demographic forecast tool which under the agreement with id will be updated following the 2011 Census and then regularly reviewed to ensure the forecasts are current. The forecast.id® product outlines local drivers of population change and forecasts how population, age structure and household types will change over the period since the last Census in 2006 to 2031.

Id has the largest population forecasting team in Australia and has prepared community profiles and forecasts for over 200 councils in Australia and New Zealand.

This project represents the largest number of local governments that id has ever prepared in-depth population forecasts for in a single project. This has produced the most robust population forecasts ever for the 28 councils in the Riverina and Murray regions.
