POPULATION GROWTH 2026

A total of 60,591 people called Wagga Wagga home in 2007. The vast majority, 90 percent, reside in the urban area with the balance living on farms and in the surrounding villages of Collingullie, Currawarna, Galore, Uranquinty, Mangoplah, Humula, Tarcutta, Ladysmith and Oura.

In the five year period up to 2007 the population grew at a faster rate than the NSW average with the population expected to increase by an additional 11,409 by 2026.

The population is also younger than the state average. Thirty three (33) percent of the residents are under 25 years of age and a further 28 percent are aged between 25 and 44 years of age.

Like most Australian towns and cities the average age of its residents is increasing and by 2026 is expected to rise to 41.7 years. With this steadily increasing population comes a demand for more residential land, housing and infrastructure as well as additional community services.
