AUSTRALIAN AIRLINE PILOT ACADEMY (AAPA)

The decision to base AAPA in Wagga Wagga is in line with Wagga Wagga City Council's aim to develop the city into a centre of aviation excellence. Due to the conducive weather in Wagga Wagga, the number of flying days lost per year because of unsuitable weather is very low.
AAPA is owned and operated by a major airline, specifically Regional Express (Rex). The development of a state-of-the-art Training Centre at Wagga Wagga airport is currently underway with the first stage due for completion in early 2010.
Creating over 70 high quality jobs, the Academy will put Wagga Wagga on the world map for pilot training. AAPA's ambition is to be the premier pilot academy in Asia Pacific with a projected throughput of more than 200 pilots a year for both Australian and international airlines. AAPA offers a comprehensive aviation training environment and world class equipment and facilities.
Wagga Wagga, with its excellent sports, recreation, entertainment and amenities facilities provides an ideal home to the students while they undergo the full course of their flight training.
