DON'T I KNOW YOU FROM SOMEWHERE?
Adam Drummond caught the acting bug from a very young age. "I remember my first performance at the age of six. I was the big bad wolf in a stage production in Moulamein and I got so much applause the limelight became addictive. I've been a show off ever since." Adam Drummond was born in Albury. Due to his father's career, he moved to many cities and towns in his youth. When his family finally settled in Cootamundra, Adam faced the issue of not having drama offered locally within the HSC framework. He decided to relocate to Wagga Wagga for years 11 and 12 in pursuit of his acting ambitions. He lived with his Nan and subsequently found his future wife at Trinity Senior High (now Kildare Catholic College). "Melinda and I have been together since 1995, we married in 2000, had our first child Ollie in 2007 and more recently Charlie who was born in November 2010.
Both Adam and Melinda attended Charles Sturt University. Adam studied acting whilst Melinda knuckled down to focus on an accounting degree. In 1998 Adam graduated and found an agent to represent him in Sydney. He and Melinda packed up and moved to the big smoke to pursue "the dream". Adam did flexible jobs to fill in for sporadic acting work including guest roles on Water Rats, All Saints and in national and international commercials while Melinda continued on the accounting path at the National Broadcaster ABC.
In 2002 the popular lifestyle and reality TV shows emerged and acting work began to dry up. "We decided it was time to start a family, so we put a plan in place to move back to Wagga Wagga, buy a house and raise some kids. We haven't looked back since! 2007 was a big year for us. We had our first boy, I became a Partner at Fitzpatricks Real Estate and we started to look for a new house."
Melinda and Adam have taken advantage of Wagga's investment opportunities, purchasing their first investment property in 2003 and their second in 2010. "Wagga's housing affordability, good occupancy rates for tenants and steady returns makes it an ideal place to invest. In fact this year it is number 12 in all of Australia!"
