Proposal offers 20 new jobs
The Daily Advertiser, 13 January 2010
A NEW business development in Bomen could brung 20 new jobs to the region.
The Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) Plant, developed by R-Control Australasia, is currently being considered by Wagga City Council and the proposal is on public display until January 22.
The plant would manufacture insulated panels that can be used in housing or industrial buildings as walls, roofs and foundations and are environmentally friendly in their creation and use.
R-Control Australasia, based in Western Australia, proposes to build an 11,000-square-metre plant on Byrnes Road.
The plant uses a foam core bonded to panelling that can then be fabricated to meet the design specifications of any building, while also providing environmental benefits.
Buildings constructed with SIPs and other high-performance systems can reduce a home's carbon dioxide output by up to 50 per-cent.
During the manufacturing process all waste can be recyled and the panel skins are made from wood that has been harvested from sustainable managed forests.
The draft proposal reports there will be relatively low levels of noise, dust and smell pollution and would have little effect on surrounding environment.
R-Control Australasia was unable to commecnt yesterday but confirmed its interest in establishing an east-coast base in Wagga.
At this stage it is not known when the plant's construction will begin, with council's planning panel yet to give approvl.
