TWO BIG PIPES ARRIVE AT BOMEN BUSINESS PARK
Riverina Water County Council own and operate the water infrastructure at Bomen. Water supply to Bomen is from the North Wagga Treatment Plant adjacent to the Murrumbidgee River. The treatment plant is operating at 10.0ML/day with an available capacity of 13.0ML/day. Water supply for Bomen is stored in two reservoirs located on either side of the Bomen Business Park. A 300mm diameter main from East Bomen Reservoir tapers down to a 250mm diameter main at the rail crossing, and supplies Bomen's existing industrial area. A 200mm diameter main runs along Byrnes Road and supplies the Rivco northern development (the former wool combing plant).
Existing capacity and supply is not seen as a problem at Bomen. An alternate supply from the main Wagga Treatment Plant is currently being constructed. The new 375mm diameter main has the potential to supply an extra 150l/s to Bomen.
The Australian Pipeline Trust is currently duplicating a 90km section of the Sydney - Moomba Gas Pipeline extending from Cootamundra to Wagga Wagga. The pipe has a 300mm diameter and maintains 8,000 kpa capacity. The gas pipeline is Nationally important and provides natural gas from South Australia and Victoria into New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.
