WAGGA AIPORT THE SKIES THE LIMIT
Wagga Wagga Airport has been recognised as Australia's Regional Airport of the year for 2010 by the Australian Airports Association (AAA).
Wagga Wagga Airport won the award for the extensive major upgrade projects undertaken in the past year and the development of its twenty year Master Plan.
AAA Executive Director Caroline Wilkie said Wagga Wagga locals should be very proud of the strong commitment from Wagga Wagga City Council to support the airport and aviation in the region.
"Wagga Airport won this award because they stepped up and performed at a superior level."
"During the year Wagga Wagga Airport successfully completed $7 million worth of work on the runway, taxiway and apron resurfacing project- this was completed without interruption to regular passenger transport operations- a very difficult feat.
"I congratulate Wagga Wagga City Council and the staff of Wagga Wagga Airport for winning this prestigious award, which is the only industry recognised award of its type. The award acknowledges leadership and excellence in Australian aviation and airport management.
"The work of Wagga Airport in the past year will be referred to as best practice by other regional airports around Australia."
