BUSINESS GRADE WIREFREEBROADBAND MOVES TO TOWN

The Wagga Wagga Business Survey conducted by Wagga Wagga City Council in October 2009 was an opportunity for the business community to provide feedback on major issues facing Wagga Wagga businesses.

Issue Raised
The lack of access and availability of high speed internet service coupled with limited suppliers was the most prevalent concern voiced by the business community.

Wagga Wagga City Council acknowledges that this is an important issue for both existing businesses in the community and potential investors.

Action Initiated
Council initiated discussions with a number of Internet Service providers. Zaak Balaa, Managing Director of Wirefreebroadband expressed interest in setting up business grade Wirefree Broadband services in Wagga after determining that a widespread demand existed for his service. The deployment of Wirefreebroadband in Wagga began in November 2009.

Outcome
Business broadband services have been improved across the City. Access is available to businesses across the city and Bomen Business Park. The introduction of Wirefreebroadband has revolutionised broadband services for Wagga Wagga businesses with symmetrical (download and upload) speeds of 100 Mb/s, equivalent or better than metropolitan broadband. Wirefreebroadband is providing this service at highly competitive rates.

Wagga Wagga City Council will continue to look at other means to further extend internet services and competition to ensure that businesses in Wagga Wagga have access to the highest possible business broadband capability.
